Just posted another follow up video on the Deep Flow Technique (DFT) Hydroponics Build #1. In earlier posts and videos you can see the initial framework of the project, some images with plants and some without. After growing a good variety of different kinds of plants in this system (lettuce, chive, sage, basil, lemon basil, swiss chard, and peppers) it was decided to add a trellis system to support some of the taller plants. Initially this system was build with the idea of growing mostly salad greens and herbs but I wanted to test it out and see what it was capable of. This trellis system addition helps expand Austin’s DFT Hydro build 1 into something a bit more versatile than what was originally planned.
As you can see from the video there is a good mixture of plants and some of the net pot spacers are not in use by plants as there are still a few plants not ready to go into this DFT (Deep Flow Technique) system. Some of the spacers are also present to allow for future growth space of the plants already in place. If this system was in “salad mode” it could easily utilize all of the grow spaces and the growth would be much more pronounced as lettuce is one of the quickest plants to grow.
Videos keep getting posted and I keep mentioning that I will be offering more detailed information and a complete plans and parts list along with instructions. Well the eBook is finished with detailed plans, parts list, photos, and instructions on the DFT Build #1 so please see the following link if you are interested.
