A relatively new term describing a method of hydroponic growing where the nutrient solution flowing past the plant roots is substantial enough to not be considered a nutrient film but not so deep as to be considered a Deep Flow. Shallow Flow Technique systems may have several inches or more of flowing water going over the roots. Shallow Flow Technique (SFT) is in between Nutrient FIlm Technique (NFT) and Deep Flow Technique (DFT).
